Inspiring and preparing young people for the world of work

At Venn Boulevard Centre, our careers programme is designed to nurture ambition, build confidence and prepare pupils for successful transitions into education, employment or training.

We provide a structured, progressive careers journey from Year 7 to Year 11, ensuring all pupils gain the skills, knowledge and experiences they need to make informed decisions about their future.


Our Careers Vision

To nurture and support all our students to explore ambitious career opportunities, achieve their true potential and be fully prepared for their transition into the dynamic world of work.

Our programme supports pupils to:

  • Understand themselves and their strengths

  • Explore a wide range of career pathways

  • Develop employability and life skills

  • Make confident, informed post-16 choices


Careers Pathway: Year 7 to Year 11

(This section works really well as a vertical timeline or accordion)

Year 7 – Discover Careers

Focus: Self-awareness and early career exploration

  • Identify personal qualities and skills

  • Complete a basic personal statement

  • Introduction to employer encounters

  • Enterprise projects and “All About Me” activities

Year 8 – Explore Careers

Focus: Broadening horizons and understanding pathways

  • Explore Post-16 and Post-18 pathways

  • Understand different study and career options

  • Begin structured career research

  • Learn how bias can influence choices

  • Employer encounters and enterprise projects

Year 9 – Career Focus

Focus: Decision-making and option choices

  • Experience all subject choices before selecting options

  • Understand GCSEs and BTECs

  • Explore progression routes

Year 10 – Experience the World of Work

Focus: Employability and preparation

  • Understand personal finance

  • Prepare documents for the world of work

Year 11 – Decide and Apply

Focus: Transition and next steps

  • Research Post-16 options
